Article written by Libby (Year 8) and Madison (Year 7)
In April our Year 7 and 8 girls and boys took part in a cross country competition. We competed against other schools which made it more challenging. If we got placed in the first five we were given a medal and they were very proud of us.
First of all the year 7s and 8s started at the start line and we had to run around St George’s playing field. We had to run down to the park then back up to the railings, around the trees then towards the houses and then back to the start where we collected our medals.
It was a very long distance and was hard because it was quite muddy and some people lost their shoes. As we were running our school mates who were taking part in different races gave us support to keep us going if we were walking. All the parents who came to watch were very supportive and proud. They helped the people who didn’t feel well after such a long run.
After we finished we were all very tired but actually we were really proud of ourselves for completing the race, even though most of us didn’t get a medal. We were really happy for the boys and girls who represented the school and got a medal but also the ones who didn’t.
Well done to the Year 7 boys team who came first in the Championship. Congratulations to Daniel for finishing in 3rd place, Katie for coming 2nd and Aimee for placing 3rd. Also a big congratulations to Ben Roberts who is a Knowsley Champion. Overall The Prescot School finished 2nd.
Thank you to the teachers, parents and helpers for organising for us to take part in this lovely event and for encouraging us to keep going. We all really enjoyed it and would like to be involved in more of these events.
