Our annual fun packed event was every bit as successful as it has been in the past and allowed primary pupils from all over Knowsley to take part in projects from all around the World. Pupils got a taste of culture from China, South America, Europe, North America, Australasia, India and Africa with activities including African drumming, flamenco and tribal dancing, Maori war dance (Haka), the science of Chinese fireworks, world sports, Aboriginal and African art, face painting, panpipes, calligraphy, origami and a visit from a Chinese Lion!
The sound of African drums echoing through the school added to the day’s excitement, as did the very popular Chinese Lion. Students from The Prescot School also deserve some real recognition for their hard work assisting and leading workshops on Dance, the Haka, Face Painting and other activities thoughout the day. Many of our students acted as ‘ambassadors’, supporting Year 5 pupils in the activities and ensuring they had a great visit to The Prescot School. Three of our Year 9 boys also made a huge contribution to the day by working as part of the Chinese Lion team, putting on performances of their own and playing the accompanying drums.
We received lots of great feedback at the end of the day from both pupils and teachers from the participating schools. We’d like to thank everyone who took part and made the day such a great success.
