Lucky Year 7 pupils recently enjoyed an amazing performance of ‘Hilarious Histories: A Potted Prescot’ by MATE productions. The play celebrated the school’s heritage with a complete history of the town of Prescot. Actors kept us entertained and laughing for an hour as we heard about life in Prescot through the ages.
As Shakespeare North progresses with its plans to build an Elizabethan theatre in Prescot, MATE Productions will be busy commemorating 400 years since the Bard’s death. The highlight of the year will be a touring summer production of As You Like It, one of Will’s most enduring and beloved comedies. Keep up-to-date on the Shakespeare North and MATE websites.
There’s a local saying – ‘There was a Prescot before e’er there was a Liverpool.’ In Elizabethan times and before, Prescot was the centre of trade and commerce for swaths of Lancashire and the North West.
