On Tuesday 22nd November 2016, the music department took our Year 9 GCSE students to record a Christmas charity single at Parr Street Studios to help raise money for vulnerable and homeless people in Liverpool.
Parr Street has a reputation for being one of, if not the best recording studio outside of London, attracting artists from all around the world including Coldplay, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Take That, Elbow, The Spice Girls, Oasis, The Verve, Echo and the Bunnymen, Diana Ross, New Order, Pulp, Paulo Nutini and many more.
The students wrote all of the music, the lyrics and then played it for the recording. All ten of the students involved have contributed towards writing, performing and distributing the song. They have named their band Pitch Prescot.
Their aim is to sell the song for donations and then send the money to Chapter 1 Mildmay house in Liverpool’s town centre. Mildmay is a supported housing service in Liverpool for single males and females aged 16 years or over. The service offers support with 24 hour staff cover, supporting 48 clients. The clients are primarily homeless, unable to remain in their current accommodation, or deemed as vulnerable in their current situation. Chapter 1 work with their clients to help them move forward in their lives through good quality individual support.
For more information on Chapter 1, visit their website here.
The students are selling their Christmas charity single at the school’s Christmas concert on Thursday 8th December at 6pm. People can pay £1 or whatever they wish to donate for the CD. You can also donate and download the single here.
CD’s are currently available at the school’s pastoral department.
