On Thursday 19th January 2017, Sky Sports mentor athlete Sue Smith came into The Prescot School to deliver some sessions to our GCSE PE classes. Sue Smith is a professional footballer who currently plays for Doncaster Rovers Belles. Sue was a world class athlete in her prime winning the FA International Player of the Year twice, and also being selected for an International All Star game versus America, to promote the Women’s World Cup. Sue has also represented England Ladies 93 times and scored 16 goals in the process.
Sue delivered sessions to our Year 11 girls GCSE group, Year 10 GCSE and Year 9 GCSE groups throughout the day. The aim of the day was to deliver the ’Six Keys to Success’ as follows:
- Mental Toughness
- Hunger to Achieve
- People Skills
- Sports & life knowledge
- Breaking Barriers
- Planning for Success
The whole day was fantastic with pupils thoroughly enjoying themselves and learning what it takes not to just be a successful athlete, but also what is required to be a successful person as a whole. The PE department would like to thank Sue for coming in and delivering such an outstanding program of sessions, and the pupils who took part for making the day so successful.
