On Thursday the 6th July 2017, The Prescot School celebrated its annual sports presentation evening. The evening was as brilliant as ever as over three hundred people, including parents, teachers, governors, trustees and pupils, packed into the atrium to watch the presentation.
The night started with an introductory speech from Mrs Walker, which was followed by Mr Aslanian interviewing footballer Sue Smith. Sue Smith has won 93 caps for England scoring 16 goals in the process and has won international player of the year on two occasions. She spoke about her most memorable moments in sport and what it takes to become a world class athlete.
There were two performances on the night, one from a year 7 and 8 dance group that included Libby, Rebecca, Lois, Sophie, Scarlett and Milly. The other performance was an outstanding gymnastic routine from Year 9 Zoe who competes for Team GB.
The main part of the night was the awards ceremony, celebrating our pupils’ hard work in PE lessons and after school commitment. There were numerous awards such as Most Improved Player and Most Valuable Player in athletics, badminton, basketball, football, rugby and netball to name a few. The final prizes of the night were GCSE Pupil of the Year, Sport Science Pupil of the Year, the newly named Mr Wong Pupil of Steel Award, Sports Leader of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year.
The evening was a fantastic success and we would like to thank everyone who came to show their support in making it such a memorable and special night for our young athletes.
