Attendance and Punctuality

Attendance and Punctuality is treated as a priority by all at The Prescot School. A high level of attendance and punctuality supports and promotes effective learning.

Excellent attendance is essential to a child’s success at TPS and will help them make the most of their time at school. Attendance is also a statutory requirement. Parents must make sure that their children attend school regularly. The Local Education Authority has the legal right to prosecute parents who do not ensure that their children attend school.

The Prescot School operates a first day absence response, which ensures a parent is alerted if their son/daughter fails to attend school. Whenever possible, the school contacts the parents by phone during the day.

You can report that your son/daughter will be absent from school between 7.30am and 8.45am every day. Absence from school must be reported daily. To report an absence, call 0151 477 8680 and press 1.

Good punctuality should be encouraged by all. Students who arrive late for school will be placed on a break time detention daily. From 8.45am, The Prescot School will begin to contact you if your child isn’t in school. If your child is persistently late, we will contact you from 7.30am.

We celebrate and reward the success of children who have a good attendance and punctuality record and set targets for our students to improve. We also work in partnership with parents and carers to provide them with information about their child’s attendance.

Should a parent have concerns about their son/daughter’s attendance or punctuality, they should, in the first instance, contact the Assistant Progress Coordinator of their son/daughter’s year group.
